Col·lectiu Emma has republished an op-ed of mine from the Atlantic Sentinel, in which I argue that Spanish prime minister Mariano Rajoy is only making Catalan secession more likely with his attitude.
Rajoy has withdrawn his offer to hear out Catalonia’s demands for self-government and consistently belittled and dismissed its desire to break away from Spain.
The result is that attitudes in what is Spain’s richest region have hardened. If the government is not even willing to listen to them, much less meet their demands, what alternative do they have to independence?
